CARE

Genovations Decking is a PVC product with no wood or organic fibers added and resists most stains.  Genovations Decking will not absorb any moisture.  Genovations Decking is virtually maintenance free.  Normal airborne pollutants and dirt from every day foot traffic can be easily cleaned off with a garden hose and spray nozzle.  For tougher stains use non-abrasive soap and water, and apply with a soft bristle brush.  Wipe up large spills and clean with soap and water.  A power washer may be used to clean Genovations Decking (1500 psi with a fan tip nozzle, 12" above deck).

Do not use any citrus based cleaners or solvents on Genovations Decking products.  Rubber mats, or rugs with rubber backing can cause a reaction and discolor the decking surface.  Fiber or bristle rugs are recommended.  Use calcium chloride for ice removal, broom for snow.  Do not chop ice and snow off of decking with sharp edge tools or shovels.  Excessive heat can cause damage; allow for adequate air flow around gas and charcoal grill.  Avoid splattering of cooking grease.

Genovations Variegated Colors are designed to look like natural wood and will have slight color and shading variations from board to board.  We recommend laying out all boards prior to installation.  Be sure to pull from different bags to ensure that you achieve the look you want.  The color variation will in no way affect the performance of the product.

Genovations Deck boards and trim are subject to linear expansion and contraction with changes in temperature (wood changes according to its moisture content).  The greater the temperature change, the more noticeable this expansion and contraction will become.  Following the installation instructions properly can help manage and reduce these effects.

As with all materials, external sources of heat will cause genovations to increase in temperature.  These include, but are not limited to:

Reflected sunlight by low emissivity (Low-E) glass in windows and door-walls.  This can lead to above normal elevations of surface temperatures, which may potentially harm Genovations products.  Possible damage could include warping, sagging, and increased expansion and contraction.

Fire, whether naturally occuring or man-made, such as fire features, fire pits, etc. could potentially lead to heat build up and cause damage to the decking.

If you have questions regarding these potential risks, you should contact the manufacturer of these products prior to installation for recommendations on how to reduce or eliminate the temperature accumulation.  Genovations Solid PVC decking is typically cooler than other decking, however the darker the color the warmer the decking will be due to the fact that dark colors give off more heat.

Static electricity is a natural phenomenon and with regard to Genovations decking, a temporary condition that will be reduced as the deck is exposed to outdoor elements.  You can help this process along by rinsing the deck off with water from a garden hose.
